Turntable / Platter / Cassette Belts
Audio drive belts over time can stretch (loosing their elasticity) causing them to slip. This can result in not only the start-up stability time to increase but also unstable pitch. Resulting in poor reproduction.
So tt is important that the correct size belt is fitted. Too tight and damage may occur to the motor spindle/bearings. Too loose and you end up with speed variations.

How to measure Flat drive belts.
1. Measure the width of the belt, usually around 3~8mm.
2. Measure the length, or circumference of the belt.
3. Subtract about 5%(depending on how loose belt is) from the belts circumference (this is to allow for any stretch).However flat belts usually do not stretch that much.
(If you do not have the belt, you can use a piece of string to go around the drive shaft then measure the string)
