Fuse Ratings For a UK Plug
Type: Colour: Watts:
3 Amp Red 750
5 Amp Black 1000
13 Amp Brown 3000

13amp Plug (top) How to connect correctly :-

1 - Remove the top cover

2 - Looking at the plug you will see a fuse on the right hand side, the fuse is ALWAYS fitted to the live side. So on a UK plug the fuse is on the right. This is were the BROWN connection is fitted.

3 - The connection to the left is for the BLUE negative lead.

4 - The last connection is for the EARTH coloured GREEN & YELLOW. This lead is connected to the top pin. Its the longest one.

Formula

To work out the correct fuse to use :- divide the Watts by the Voltage to give you the Amps.

               W/V=A

This can be used to calculate what fuse to fit in a plug.
